- Place the foam pad loose on the hull of the boat
- Twist the seat and place it on top of the foam pad
- Line up the centreline of the seat with the centreline of the boat
- Measure 2″ (50 mm) from the back of the seat to the bulkhead behind
- Measure diagonally between the front of the cockpit rim and each side of the seat. Both measurements should be the same
- Mark both the sides of the hull in front of the plastic side parts using a marker pen
- Position the foam pad so that it is approximately 1″ (25 mm) further forward than the seat, and mark its position on the hull with a marker pen
- Remove the seat and foam pad from the boat
- Wipe with acetone the area where the plastic side parts will sit against the hull
- Remove the backing on the foam pad and stick it to the hull using the marks
- Reposition the seat on top of the foam pad and align it with the marks you drew on the hull
- Mix up the glue using a spatula. Pull one side of the seat away from the hull and spread the glue between the plastic side part and the hull. Do the same on the other side. The glue usually hardens in 15 minutes depending on the temperature
- Wipe off any excess glue and place a weight on top of the seat to stop it moving (at the factory we use a small bag of sand)
- When the glue has hardened, attach the backrest and foam side blocks. The Romany Excel and Romany Surf need extra plastic side parts to enable the seat to be fitted to them
- Glue: We use a Methacrylate Adhesive SS 605, manufactured in the USA by IPS Corporation, 600 Ellis Road, Durham, NC 27703.
